God intended it for GOOD!
Our story starts in 2009, with a friendship between Potomac Falls Anglican Church in Virginia and an Anglican priest in Shinyanga, Tanzania who was serving orphaned and vulnerable children. It was a joy to support and visit and love these children, but during a short-term trip in 2013, the team saw problems with the way the ministry was operating and learned that our contact there was not to be trusted.
As devastating as this revelation was, members of the Tanzania mission teams and the church saw the hand of God in all of this. In an amazing series of events, God brought to light what was hidden, revealed the deception and removed what was faulty and corrupt. The Lord connected us with committed believers in Shinyanga and opened wide the doors for His much GREATER vision! As Joseph said, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20
Whom shall I send?
While God was arranging all these details, he was at work simultaneously on another front: He was preparing a leader. Claire Grubbs fell in love with Tanzania during her stay there in 2012. And she knew she would be back. But God took her to Mozambique, Kenya, Louisiana, California and Virginia before sending her full-time to Tanzania beginning in October 2014. At Iris Global’s Harvest School in Mozambique, she fell more deeply in love with Jesus and God used the Iris Leaders School in California to prepare her for ministry. Claire arrived in Shinyanga Tanzania in the fall of 2014. While Claire was in Tanzania, through a miraculous chain of events, she met her husband Mike Fedele. While Mike was still in the states, he noticed a picture of Claire on his mother’s fridge, and never would have thought he’d find himself on a plane six months later. You can read the amazing story here! Read more. Claire and Mike lived in Shinyanga, Tanzania, working to raise up local leaders and put together the team that God is calling to grow the ministry. After four years of service, Claire and Mike transitioned back to the US in late 2018.
